Charlie Wants a Burger, 223 Losoya St., has hired Culinary Institute of America graduate Katrina Cailao to be its new executive chef.
In addition, the restaurant has added new items to its breakfast menu, including the Hair Of the Dog, $18.99, featuring a Bloody Mary with celery, olives, cucumber, one of Charlie’s sliders, fried pickles and jalapenos, candied bacon, a hot dog and a chicken wing; Scotch eggs, $9.99, featuring hard-cooked eggs coated with ground beef and fried in panko bread crumbs served with salsa verde and crème fraiche; Charlie’s Migas, $8.99, including eggs, roasted tomato, onion, jalapeno, cilantro, tortilla crisps and cheddar cheese; and the Burrito, $8.99, featuring refried beans, bacon, sausage, cheese, potato, avocado and egg served in a flour tortilla topped with spicy salsa and sour cream.
Charlie Wants a Burger is also serving new breakfast bar drinks, including the Ziggy Dawg, $8, featuring a Bloody Mary served with house-made black pepper- and serrano pepper-infused vodka; the Traditional Poinsettia, $7, served with cranberry juice and sparkling wine; the Lazy Dawg, $8.50, featuring gin, lime juice, mint, simple syrup, cucumber and jalapeno; Nutty Coffee, $7, served with coffee, Baileys, Tuaca and Frangelico; and Spanish Coffee, $7, featuring coffee, Brandy and Triple Sec.
The restaurant is also featuring new lunch/dinner menu items, including dishes such as ribs, $24.99 for a full rack and $12.99 for a half rack, served with hand-cut fries, Cailao’s homemade watermelon rind picks and peppery vinegar coleslaw.
The Two Pounds Unleashed burger challenge is also new to the menu. The challenge, $28.99, invites customers to eat a Charlie’s Massive Burger, featuring melted cheddar or American cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and pickles, sweet potato fries and onions rings in a one-hour sitting with no help. Anyone who eats everything in that time will not be charged for the meal and will receive a free Challenge Camp t-shirt and their photo on the Charlie’s Challenge Camp Board.
